robert.topel@chicagopartners.comRobert Topel is a Principal at Chicago Partners, as well as the Isidore Brown and Gladys J. Brown Professor of Economics at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he is also the Director of the George J. Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State and the Director of the University of Chicago Energy Initiative. He specializes in microeconomics—the study of markets and prices—and applied econometrics, with particular emphasis on industrial organization, price theory, labor markets and health economics. His recent awards include the 2005 Eugene Garfield Award from Research America and the 2007 Kenneth Arrow Award from the International Health Economics Association. He consults and serves as a testifying expert in the areas of antitrust, pricing, intellectual property and employment. He is the author of numerous articles in professional journals, and served as Editor of the Journal of Political Economy (1992-2003) and as a member of the Editorial Board of the American Economic Review (1990-1992), the two leading professional journals in economics. He earned his Ph.D. in economics at UCLA.
